Makeup Wars: Color Correctors

makeup-wars (1)

Although nothing new to the pro makeup artist, color correcting is having a major moment in mass makeup, and every brand is getting in on the trend. With so many new color correctors launching in the form of palettes, pencils, creams, and more, we wanted to dedicate a week of Makeup Wars to our favorite picks. For what might be the first time ever, I’m keeping it super simple with  just one selection, but be sure to check out everyone else’s picks!

It’s no surprise if you’re having trouble choosing the color corrector that’s right for you. With liquids, creams, paletees, sticks, and so many more to choose from, it’s not easy to wade through them all and detrmine which re right for you. My pick in today’s Makeup Wars is a great starting point for the color correcting beginner and pro alike because they offer simplicity without sacrificing quality.

Smashbox Color Correcting Sticks are individual cream pencils that allow you to select exactly the kind of color correction you need without worry of other shades going to waste (as could happen with a palette). They offer four shades for four different kinds of correction:

  • Green = Redness Correction
  • Purple = Brighten Dullness and Sallowness
  • Light Peach = Dark Circle Correction for Fair/Light/Medium Skin
  • Dark Peach = Dark Circle Color Correction for Medium/Deep Skin

The pencil format allows for precise application – perfect for spot correction. But the formula is creamy enough to be spread across large areas without needing to work too hard. Speaking of formula, these offer long-lasting wear. They dry down to something of a powder texture, but still allow for easy layering over top – weather it’s foundation or concealer. They’re also very pigmented, so a little goes a long way.

What’s your favorite color corrector?

I’ve been very curious about these. I’m glad to hear they are so creamy.
